Here’s why YOU could have paid too much tax working in the Health Service!

Over 1.9 million taxpayers across Britain have used a specialist service to check if HMRC has made their employer take too much tax off their pay.

So far, more than 601,000 taxpayers (1 in 3 that have checked) have got back over £123 million from HMRC after they discovered HMRC had sent their employer the wrong tax codes and made them pay too much tax.

The average amount they’re getting back this year is £229.32 each.

Very few taxpayers think they will get money back when they use this service.
They think HMRC automatically sends their employer the right tax code and their employers would spot if HMRC sent the wrong one.

It’s important you don’t assume you automatically pay the right tax. HMRC tells the Trust your tax code and the Trust uses your code to work out how much tax to take off you, so it’s important YOU make sure you’ve got the right code. If you haven’t checked your tax codes in the last 4 – 5 years, there’s a significant chance you’ve paid too much tax.

This specialist tax service, provided by the UK's leading PAYE tax experts, The Tax Refund Company, allows you to check quickly if HMRC has given you the right tax code for this year, as well as each of the last 4 years. It will also help you get your money back off HMRC if they’ve taken too much.

If you want to use it, the main points you need to know are...

          - If you have paid the right tax and you’re not owed anything, it’s entirely FREE

          - If you have paid too much, The Tax refund Company will help you get your money back

          - For every £1 you get back off HMRC, you keep 62p and The Tax Refund Company receives 38p as a fee for
            helping you  get it back.**

          - In the rare case you haven’t paid enough tax, HMRC will NOT be told

          - You’re covered by an Underpayment Guarantee - if you get an unexpected tax bill as a direct result of using

the service, The Tax Refund Company will pay the bill for you. (T&C’s apply)
