1 in 3 employees are entitled to a tax refund and don't realise!

Here's why…

Research on over 2 MILLION taxpayers who all relied on their employer taking the right tax off their pay, shows a third had paid too much tax and were entitled to money back - an average of £204 each.

It happened because they all assumed their employer had taken the right tax off their pay.

They also assumed HMRC (The Revenue) gave them the correct tax code and if it was wrong, their employer would know and sort it for them. All these assumptions are wrong!

HMRC

Your employer uses your Tax Code to work out how much tax they must take off your pay, but if they're given the wrong code by The Revenue, they'll always take the wrong amount of tax.

The Revenue makes it your responsibility to check they've given your employer the right tax code. It's not something your employer can do for you. However, checking your own code assumes you understand the PAYE tax rules, would know if your code was wrong and can work out how much HMRC needs to pay you back. And you need to be able to do this for each of the last 4 years and this current tax year.
